Justice Department Places FDA-Approved Marijuana Products and Products Containing Marijuana Subject to a Qualifying State-issued License in Schedule III

Department of Justice Press Release

In response to the Department of Justice rescheduling licensed medical marijuana from Schedule I to Schedule III, NCCC released the following statement:

“Behind this rescheduling decision are real patients – cancer patients seeking relief from chemotherapy, seniors managing chronic pain, and veterans battling PTSD – who have waited decades for federal policy to catch up with their reality. The medical community recognized cannabis’ clinically proven benefits long ago. Categorizing it alongside heroin was never rooted in evidence; it was rooted in misconception, and patients paid the price. By correcting this 50-year wrong, President Trump is completing the process that puts patients first and aligns federal policy with the medicine they deserve.” - National Compassionate Care Council
